Trexo Robotics

This work centres around the use of robotic gait training or mobility technology to enrich the lives of children. A pilot study has been completed which evaluated the feasibility of in-home use of the Trexo robotic gait trainer facilitated by parents, along with a parent-led physical therapy program.

Participants were asked to share their experiences with the device as well as with the therapy program through interviews. Data was collected on various family determined goals as well as walking and muscle tone.

We are excited to share our results at CP-Net Science and Family Day, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, European Academy of Childhood Disability, and published in a peer-reviewed journal.

The research team is continuing to work nationally and internationally to design new studies to look at the use of the Trexo in other populations (GMFCS V CP, other diagnoses) as well as other locations in our community.
